Collection Historical Note

The first Methodist meeting house was erected at Wormwood Hill in 1797. It was used as the house of worship till 1826 when a portion of the society broke out and built a church at the present site in Gurleyville. It was dedicated in 1827. The building was occupied untill 1847 when the present church was erected and dedicated.
