Collection Historical Note

The first class was formed in 1827. Meetings were held in the home of members and in 1847, meetings were moved to a newly built school house called "The Black Hall". This was where sermons were preached untill 1852, when the house of worship, erected many years before in West Woodstock was bought and taken to East Woodstock. This remains the present house of worship.
