Administrative/Biographical History
In 1703, the First Congregational church was established. The First Meeting House (Church) was erected on Old Hebron Road in 1706. And in 1714, the Second Meeting House was also erected. A Third Meeting House erected in 1771.
In 1841, the church was pulled down and the Fourth and present Meeting House was built and dedicated in 1842.
The Methodist Episcopal Church built on Norwich Ave in 1843 was razed in early1900’s; members worshiped with the Baptist. And in 1857 the Calvary Episcopal Church built on Hayward Ave was also razed in early1900’s; members then worshiped with Baptists.
In 1858, a Chapel was built now known as Day Hall. And in 1885, the Church was dedicated after it was renovated with a Victorian décor and later in 1929 it was remodeled into its present day look.
Around 1949, the Colchester Federated Church was established, combining First Congregational and Baptist Churches. The present building became the place of worship.
