Collection Historical Note
The Methodist house of worship was built in Weston in 1794. A class was organized in 1820. About the year 1828 or 1830 a second class was formed. Prior to 1837, there was only occasional preaching in Waltham, the services were held in different places- in the Old Factory House on Elm Street. There was a desire to have a more permanent place of worship. The church moved to Mason Hall on Main Street. In 1838, a church edifice belonging to Second Unitarian Society was purchased and the church was properly organized.
