Collection Historical Note

Anthony Cardova Campbell was born on April 14, 1939, in Anderson, S.C., and grew up in Detroit.<span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-family: georgia, &quot;times new roman&quot;, times, serif; font-size: 15px; line-height: 22.005px;"> </span>Campbell, professor of homiletics and preacher in residence at Boston University, received his Master of Divinity degree from the School of Theology in 1965. He worked in the public sector at WTVS-TV in Michigan, Massachusetts Office for Children, and Moton College Service Bureau. He was also pastor of several large churches in Michigan and Massachusetts, taught a generation of students at Boston University, and preached on six continents. He was also responsible for the revival of the Preaching Forum at the School of Theology at BU. He died on Sept. 27, 2002 at 63 years old, at a Boston hospital, three days after a stroke.
