Folder 6: MSS Leaf 17: Leaf from Petrus de Riga. Aurora in Latin

Englandm later twelfth to early thirteenth century. Parchment 230 x 108 mm. One narrow text column of 50-51 lines 198 x 73 mm.

Peter Riga (c. 1140-1209) wrote his paraphrase of the Bible, the Aurora, in the late twelfth century. This leaf comes from an early copy. The strikingly tall, narrow format is typical of English university texts. (Judith Oliver, Manuscrpts Sacred and Secular, p. 19)
