Administrative/Biographical History
In 1838, a Methodist class was formed. The class connected with the East Machais and Wesley charge until 1839. The members of the Methodist class merged with Wesley charge to form a church. A class was formed in Northfield. The church increased in members. In 1841, Columbia, Marshfield and Cherryfield were added to the Circuit. Methodist society occupied the old Court House but later a school House was secured. in 1850 the first church was built. Between 1868 - 1890 a second church was erected and dedicated.
